Good news! 💧 Our water pump system has been successfully repaired. The parts damaged by the power surge have been replaced, and everything is back up and running.

School will resume on our normal schedule starting Friday, October 17.

School is canceled today, Oct. 16. Our water pump was damaged as a result of a power outage. Repair crews cannot be here in time to make the repair for the start of school. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We will provide an update later today. Thank you for your understanding.

Hands-On CPR Training for 6th Grade! 🫀🚒 A huge thank-you to West Mason Fire for visiting Hood Canal School today and training all of our 6th graders in CPR! Students got hands-on experience practicing chest compressions on training dummies and learning how to respond in an emergency. 🌿 Indigenous Peoples Day 🌿 Today and every day, Hood Canal School honors the Tuwaduq Nation and the Skokomish Indian Tribe, the first people of this place. Our school lies in the heart of the Skokomish Nation, on land generously gifted to the district by Skokomish families. We are committed to safeguarding the natural environment and their ancestral lands, and to working side by side with tribal leaders to improve the educational experience for Skokomish children and ensure generations of increased opportunities.

🎤 Morning Announcements, Student-Led! 🌟 Our middle school ASB students are continuing the tradition of preparing and delivering our morning announcements! They do it all on their own — from sharing events, reminders, lunch menus, and birthdays (sometimes even singing for the whole school!) — to closing with our code of conduct reminders and the flag salute. 🚨🔥 Today our students and staff successfully completed a fire drill as part of our ongoing safety efforts at Hood Canal. Safety is always a top priority, and we hold monthly drills throughout the year to make sure everyone is prepared in case of an emergency. 🎉🐇 Congratulations to Hood Canal student Donavito “Vito” on his amazing 4-H accomplishments at the Washington State Fair! 🏆 Best of Breed in “Type” for his Satin Angora 🌟 Special Merit Rosette for his Carded Fiber project 🥇 Champion Rosette for his Fiber Rolags project 🥕 His rabbit even placed 2nd in the Cilantro Eating Contest! 💙 And he earned all blue ribbons for his Educational Poster, Fiber Project “How to Make Yarn” Display, Rabbit Showmanship, Judging, and Rabbit Costume Contest. Vito has been involved in 4-H for two years, starting at the Thurston County Fair and now proudly representing at the State Fair. He has shared his knowledge through public presentations, teaching the community about Satin Angora rabbits, fiber projects, and his 4-H journey. 👏 Way to go, Vito—we’re proud of your dedication and success!
