At Hood Canal School, family and community input helps guide the decisions we make—from improving educational programs to shaping future learning environments. We currently have two important surveys open, and we’d greatly appreciate your participation.
1. Annual Family School Perception Survey
This is the third year we’ve conducted our annual Family School Perception Survey through the Center for Educational Effectiveness. Feedback from families has helped guide school improvement efforts, identify priorities, and support decisions that impact students and families.
The survey takes approximately 8–10 minutes to complete and is available in multiple languages. Your responses help us better understand what we’re doing well and where we can continue to improve.

2. Help Shape the Look and Feel of Future School Spaces
As planning continues for improvements at Hood Canal School, we have an opportunity to incorporate graphics, artwork, and design elements that reflect the identity of our students, community, culture, and environment.
Our partners at Bassetti Architects are asking families and community members to help identify themes that best represent Hood Canal School and inspire future learning spaces. The goal is to create environments that feel welcoming, encourage creativity, and reflect what makes Hood Canal unique.
Families are invited to share their thoughts on themes such as:
Northwest native plants and foods, including species connected to our Roots and Boots learning experiences
Skokomish art, stories, Tuwaduq language, and cultural imagery
Mountains, waterways, and the natural landscape surrounding Hood Canal
Tidelands, shellfish, kelp, fishing traditions, and life on the water
Marine wildlife including orca, salmon, seals, otters, and eagles
Ancient forests and forest ecology
Participants can also upload drawings, photos, or additional ideas to inspire future graphics and artwork within the school.
